ssu convocation 2006 - featuring speaker Lorna Dueck

St. Stephen's University held its 28th annual convocation on April 22 at 10 am in Kirk-McColl United Church (70 King Street, St. Stephen).  The convocation address was given this year by Lorna Dueck, a well-known television personality in Christian programming as the Executive Producer of the current affairs program, Listen Up TV.  Lorna is also a regular commentary writer on faith and public life in Canada’s largest national newspaper, The Globe and Mail.

A wife and mother of two children, aged 16 and 18, Lorna  spent ten years as a self-employed journalist in a home-based office that serviced markets across Canada and the U.S.  She was a regular feature and news writer for the Winnipeg Free Press, Christian Week, Faith Today and numerous other outlets including CBC Radio.  She was an editor and contributor for Focus on the Family print and radio departments, and a feature and news writer for Saskatchewan newspapers, farm and business publications.  Prior to her freelance career, Lorna was employed as a news reporter with the Golden West Broadcasting and CKX Television and Radio in Manitoba.

Lorna most recently finished eight years of co-hosting Canada’s most watched daily Christian television program, 100 Huntley Street.  That career created and launched Listen Up TV, first within 100 Huntley Street, and now as an independent program.
