RESIDENTIAL PROGRAMS

Residential ministry students are not required to live on campus, but must take at least two terms of courses in St. Stephen.  The following degrees and diplomas involve at least one year (2 terms) of study in St. Stephen and share the same core courses in Bible, Theology, Church History, Counselling, Ministry Skills and Issues, and Spiritual Formation (Prayer).

Master in Ministry (M.Min.)

A two year degree for those who have already earned an undergraduate degree (or equivalent), designed as preparation for professional ministry (similar to an MDiv offered at most seminaries).  With its intentional blend of serious academic work, practical training, and personal spiritual formation, the Master of Ministry is the main program at SSU for preparing for a lifetime of serving God in the church and the world. >>>

Master of Ministry in Worship Leadership & Christian Formation

An intimate, roundtable learning conversation for today’s active worship leader, drawing on the riches of classical and Celtic Christianity, Ignatian prayer, spiritual theology, ancient spiritual formation literature, church and worship history, emerging and postmodern cultural reflection, community life reflection and advanced worship leadership training by well-respected modern worship leaders >>>

Diploma in Ministry Studies (Dip. in Min.)
A two year diploma with the same focus as the Diploma in Christian Studies, but offered as a more in depth program over a two year period. Students my be allowed to upgrade this diploma into a degree with further study in the Liberal Arts. >>>


MODULAR PROGRAMS:

 

SSU also has several programs available through modular study. Students generally come to St. Stephen for 2 weeks at a time for 3 separate modules (offered each fall and spring). A 4th module is a 2 week trip to Israel or to Greece and Turkey.

Master in Ministry by Module (M.Min.)

A three year degree program for those who have been engaged in full-time professional ministry for a number of years. The content is similar to the residential M.Min program except that it is given in the form of three two-week intensive study periods in St. Stephen. >>>

Master of Christian Formation by Module

A three year degree program that is almost identical to the Master in Ministry, but without any professional ministry requirements.  Involves three modules in St. Stephen, one in Israel or in Greece & Turkey, and the preparation of a thesis or ministry project.  >>>

OTHER PROGRAMS:

 

Diploma in Community Corrections Ministry (Dip. in Comm. Corr.)

This program is offered in co-operation with the Chaplaincy Department of Corrections Canada. It is designed for volunteers and
community chaplains, to help prepare them to work more effectively with ex-offenders and their families. >>>
