Diploma in MInistry Studies

  • requires at least 2 academic terms of courses in St. Stephen.
  • 1st year covers core Ministry courses in Bible, Theology, Church History, Counselling, Ministry Skills & Issues, and Spiritual Formation (Prayer). 2nd year is tailored to the student's interests, and could involve a combination of options such as additional courses, a study term abroad to Israel or to Greece & Turkey with other SSU Ministry students, a thesis, or a Ministry project.

 

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The DIPLOMA IN MINISTRY builds on the DIPLOMA IN CHRISTIAN STUDIES as the second year of the two year program for serious lay people or people that may not qualify for the M.Min. It focuses on personal spiritual formation and equips the student with the biblical, theological, and historical foundations for ministry. The diploma

is particularly suitable for those interested in bi-vocational ministry or it may be taken as a diploma by those who are currently engaged in professional ministry who have no university experience.

The Diploma in Ministry is a two year program that offers the opportunity for students to build on the foundation year in the Diploma in Christian Studies.

REQUIREMENTS

1. a Diploma in Ministry requires the 33 credits from the first year (equivalent to a Diploma in Christian Studies) plus an additional 30 credit hours in the second year, for a total of 63 credit hours.

2. Students are normally required to be on campus for the duration of their program. There are provisions for distance education, but students should expect to be resident in St. Stephen for at least three of the four terms in the two year program.

3. Students may enroll in the programs on either a full-time or part-time basis. The program of studies must be completed within 7 years from the beginning of the program.

4. The requirements for graduation for the Diploma in Ministry shall be a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.0 or better and a pass mark in all courses within the credit hours counted toward the degree.
