Scholarship Opportunities

Community Engagement Scholarship

If you have achieved an average of 80% or higher during high school you will receive an academic entrance scholarship to SSU. SSU calculates an average based on your best five university preparation courses in grade 12.

80% – 84.9% average will receive an entrance scholarship of $500

85-89.9% average will receive an entrance scholarship of $1,000

90% and higher average will receive an entrance scholarship of $1,500

Please note: Entrance Scholarships are not available for transfer students. Scholarship credits are awarded at the beginning of each term. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA in their first term, in order to qualify for the other half of their credit for the second term.

So many people have benefitted from their time at SSU. If you are one of these people, or if you’ve seen the benefits of SSU secondhand, our referral incentive program is for you! If you refer a new student to SSU we will send you $1000 to show our thanks. And in keeping with our new focus on community engagement and student debt reduction, your referral will give that student a $1000 tuition rebate. This goes for our current students as well. If you refer a friend who joins you here at school, you will both receive a $1000 tuition rebate.

St. Stephen’s University continues to value its small size and personal relationships, but we would also like to be less of a secret. Help us tell our story and let people know of the change and growth that is possible when studying and learning together in community. Loans & Grants

If you apply for student loans, your Provincial Student Financial Services office will automatically assess your eligibility for such grants and bursaries. A separate application is needed only for the Grant for Services and Equipment for Students with Permanent Disabilities. The forms can be downloaded from your provincial student loan website. Each province has different programs, so poke around on the internet and see what you can find.

If you’re from New Brunswick and apply for student loans, you will now automatically be eligible to apply for the NB Renewed Tuition Bursary (formerly the TAB program, and/or the Free Tuition Program). Private universities used to be excluded from this program, BUT ARE NOW INCLUDED. Simply apply for student loans as usual, and your bursary entitlement will be calculated.

Looking for a part-time job while you are in university? Why not work for SSU! A limited amount of work bursaries are available during the school year. Positions will be posted at the start of each term and applications will be made available. Payment will be made directly to your account as a credit.

International students can now get a part-time job while studying at SSU. There are opportunities to work on or off campus with only a study permit. International students are allowed to work for up to 20 hours per week during a regular academic session and full time during regularly scheduled breaks. They’re also able to work off campus immediately rather than waiting for six months.
