SSU Students Now Have Access to the Digital Theological Library 2

St. Stephen's University is delighted to announce that we are co-owners of the Digital Theological Library 2: https://dtl2.libguides.com/home. This means that all SSU students now have access to this vast collection of online library resources to support their studies through SSU's Elizabeth V. Kilbourne Library: ssu.ca/library

The Digital Theological Library is a co-owned, born-digital library of religious and theological studies, with excellent collections in other disciplines that make up SSU's programs, including peace and justice and reconciliation studies. The mission of the DTL2 is to support the library resource needs for scholars and students of religion. The DTL2 is a member-funded, nonprofit corporation whose mission is entirely non-commercial. All assets of the DTL2 are permanently and irrevocably dedicated to charity.

  • 119+ databases

  • 30+ subject guides

With an annual acquisitions budget of over 1 million dollars, the collections of DTL2 are constantly growing as are our databases and subject guides.

This remarkable online library is one of the largest in the world and positions SSU students better to succeed in their studies. SSU's principal, Dr. Bradley Jersak, remarked, "With the addition of the Digital Theological Library, SSU is now able to fulfill its commitment to providing our students with one of the world's best — nearly fathomless — research resources available."

And SSU's Provost, Dr. Andrew Phillip Klager, added, "St. Stephen's University is always striving to improve the learning experience of our students and support their studies and academic success. Given SSU's emphasis on graduate studies through a hybrid-distance delivery model, it was imperative that we gave our students who are spread all over the globe a robust research resource that can be accessed online from wherever they live and work. With the addition of the DTL2, the Elizabeth V. Kilbourne library at SSU has given our faculty, staff, and students a rich resource for our learning community to fulfill our mission 'to prepare people, through academic, personal, and spiritual development, for a life of justice, beauty, and compassion, enabling a humble, creative engagement with their world.'"

The Library of St. Stephen's University is named after Librarian Emerita, Elizabeth V. Kilbourne (B.A., M.L.I.S.), who served as the librarian of SSU for nearly two decades until her retirement in 2010. Her exemplary commitment to SSU has been characterized by pioneering efforts to professionalize the University’s library, to affirm and accommodate the research interests of students and faculty, and with humility and integrity to model for the entire University community her deep faith and dedication to advancing the mission of St. Stephen’s University.

Good news for SSU students! It is important that when writing academic papers, students can seek additional support, for example, from professionals such as literature review helper to create structured literature reviews at a high level. This is a truly useful resource for those seeking a deeper understanding of theological and philosophical topics.
